Summary
- Multiple scalp metastases were evident 12 months after the patient's initial presentation with a stage IIIb cervical carcinoma.
- Bone metastases are rare sequelae of cervical cancer, with the lumbar spine, pelvic bones, and the long bones the commonest sites of involvement.
- Scalp metastasis is extremely rare in association with cancer of the cervix, but can result in significant dysfunction.
- Palliative radiotherapy, as undertaken here, is the treatment of choice in such cases.
Editor's Comment
Cancer of the uterine cervix is the most common malignancy seen in Indian women. Consequently, although bone secondaries are not common with this condition, they may be seen in a number of patients presenting for care. The management of one such case is herein described.
