Where to Now with Aspirin?

Professor E Malcom Symonds

Nottingham, UK

Key Points

  • There is a place for the use of low-dose aspirin in selected women during pregnancy.

  • The daily dose should not exceed 100 mg.

  • Low-dose aspirin has a particular role to play in women with a history of intrauterine growth retardation in a previous pregnancy.

  • Treatment should be started between 12-16 weeks' gestation if it is to achieve maximum efficacy.
