Summary
- A 25-year-old married parous woman with a history of labial swelling and difficulty walking was found to have non-tender, reducible cystic mass in the left labia majora.
- The histopathology of surgically-excised tissue revealed an aggressive angiomyxoma of the vulva, one of the rarest tumours of mesenchymal origin found in pelvic and perineal soft parts.
- At present, the incidence, clinical characteristics, biological behaviour, and prognosis of aggressive angiomyxoma of the vulva cannot be determined because of its rare occurrence.
Editor's Comment
A rare mesenchymal neoplasm characterised by its unique angioarchitecture and recurrent nature has been described in this case report by the doctors of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. The doctors recommend excisional biopsy for all suspected vulval masses since histopathological examination is imperative in the detection of this rare tumour.
