Refractory Glaucoma in Asian Patients
EYM Wong, PTK Chew, CKL Chee, JS Wong
A new diode laser contact transscleral cyclophotocoagulation fibreoptic probe with glass ball tip has been found to be relatively effective and safe in treating Asian patients with refractory glaucoma or painful glaucomatous eyes with poor visual acuity. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety of lower energy levels, with the expectation of reducing the incidence of side effects. A further aim was to determine whether there was any correlation between the laser energy used and the intraocular pressure effect found in East Asian patients with dark irides.
